Optimal open-loop near-field control of plasmonic nanostructures

چکیده
Optimal open-loop control, i.e. the application of an analytically derived control rule, is demonstrated for nanooptical excitations using polarization-shaped laser pulses. Optimal spatial near-field localization in gold nanoprisms and excitation switching is realized by applying a π shift to the relative phase of the two polarization components. The achieved near-field switching confirms theoretical predictions, proves the applicability of predefined control rules in nanooptical light–matter interaction and reveals local mode interference to be an important control mechanism. 5 Present address: Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 77843-4242, USA. 6 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Anomalous Spectral Shift of Near- and Far-Field Plasmonic Resonances in Nanogaps
The near-field and far-field spectral response of plasmonic systems are often assumed to be identical, due to the lack of methods that can directly compare and correlate both responses under similar environmental conditions. We develop a widely tunable optical technique to probe the near-field resonances within individual plasmonic nanostructures that can be directly compared to the correspondi...

Plasmonic nanostructures have attracted much attention in recent years because of their potential applications in optical manipulation through near-field enhancement. Continuing experimental efforts have been made to develop accurate techniques to directly measure the near-field optical force induced by the plasmonic nanostructures in the visible frequency range. In this work, we report a new a...

متن کاملScanning near-field optical microscopy with white-light illumination: nanoscale imaging and spectroscopy of resonant systems
We present the realisation of near-field spectroscopic measurements with fibre-tip-based scanning near-field microscopy. It allows simultaneous acquisition of near-field optical images in a broad spectral range (400 nm to 1000 nm), thus recovering local spectroscopic information. The technique is essential for understanding the resonant interaction of light with nanostructured objects as the fa...

Strongly enhanced and spatially confined near-fields in the vicinity of plasmonic nanostructures open up exciting new capabilities for photon-driven processes and particularly also for optical spectroscopy. Surface enhanced Raman signatures of single molecules can provide us with important information about the optical near-field. We discuss one- and two-photon excited surface enhanced Raman sc...
